Principle of operation of the Technicis pleated cardboard filter

The Technicis Filtration pleated cardboard filter, also called a cellular or “accordion” paper filter, is made up of 2 layers of recycled cardboard, perforated, pleated and assembled with glue. It is suitable for capturing and filtering overspray or mist generated during spraying processes for liquid products (paints, varnishes, glues, resins, etc.) in suction cabins (vertical or horizontal flow). We will explain to you the operating principle of the Technicis pleated cardboard filter, unique because it resides in the combination of overspray capture by impact and separation by inertia. All Technicis pleated cardboard filters have been manufactured in our Nantes factory since 1992.

The principle

Principle of operation of the Technicis pleated cardboard filter Stale air enters through the holes on the front of the filter, and exits through the holes at the back of the cardboard.

The shape of the filter generates a venturi effect (acceleration of air speed inside the filter) and forces the flow of air loaded with particles to change direction.

Capturing the overspray

The change in direction of the air flow creates a deposit of particles at the bottom of the edges of the cardboard, while the “clean” air flow continues its movement towards the filter outlet.

Paint particles (or any other wet and sticky product) being heavier than air, they end up stuck to the walls at the bottom of the filter.

The most capacitive filter on the market

With a retention capacity of 5 to 30 kg/m2 (for the exclusive Technicis VHC & VHCA high capacity pleated cardboard filters), and a filtration efficiency of up to 98% (depending on the product sprayed), the pleated cardboard filter is the most capacitive on the market and has the following advantages:

  • Constant airflow
  • Stable and low pressure loss
  • Rigidity and easy installation in vertical (wall suction) and horizontal (floor) positions
  • Lifespan up to 9 times longer than a fiber filter
  • Does not clog the surface
  • Produced from recycled cardboard and without chemicals Ensures a clean working environment
  • Packaging in boxes for easy storage and transport

Technicis pleated cardboard filters have been used for more than 30 years in paint booths in all industrial environments.

They have been approved and their effectiveness has been proven by workplace safety organization.

Choose the ideal paint booth

A paint booth is designed to vacuum and filter hazardous substances such as oversprays (mist) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

It thus prevents the spread of particles, odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the workshop or outside.

In addition to protecting the environment and complying with regulations, it guarantees the safety of employees and facilities.

Isolating the painting process in a booth also ensures high quality work, free of contaminants like dust.
